- W2029221805 abstract "1. Adrenaline (A) and noradreline (NA) caused hyperglycemia in the 5° C. acclimated frogs but did not change the liver or muscle glycogen contents. 2. Exposure of animals to 25° C. for 30 days caused a decrease in the glycogen stores and an elevation in the blood-sugar level but also a decrease in the hyperglycaemic response to A and NA. 3. The hyperglycaemic potency of various adrenergic drugs decreased in the order: isoproterenol.NA = A>dopamine (170:23:19:1)>tyramine>phenylephrine. 4. Propranolol abolished the hyperglycaemic effort of A and NA and slightly also that of isoproterenol. 5. Dibenzyline and phentolamine, and to lesser degree dihydroergotamine, not only failed to block the hyperglycaemic effect of A or NA but caused hyperglycaemia when given alone. 6. Reserpine treatment caused hyperglycaemia and failed to decrease the hyperglycaemia elicited by tyramine. Reserpine also failed to deplete significantly tissue catecholamine stores." @default.
