- W2029497536 abstract "The reaction, in acetone, of the thiocarboxamido complexes [MCI(CSNMe2)(PPh3)2] (M = Pd (1); M = Pt (2)) with some metal halides have been studied. The salts FeCl3, AlCl3 and ZnCl2 react with (1) and (2) to give the dimeric dicationic complexes [M2(PPh3)4(μ-CSNMe2)]+ in which FeCl−(in4), AlCl−4 and ZnCl2−4 are the counter ions. The reactions of (1) with HgCl2, NiCl2 and PtCl2 occur with PPh3 transfer to metal halide and [Pd2Cl2(μ-CSNMe2)2(PPh3)2 and the complexes [Hg(PPh3)Cl2]2, [Ni(PPh3)2Cl2], cis-[Pt(PPh3)2Cl2] respectively are the products. The reactions of (2) with HgCl2, NiCl2, PdCl2 and PtCl2 proceed analogously. By reacting (1) with PdCl2 or Na2PdCl4 in acetone orange crystals of [Pd2(PPh3)2Cl2(μ-CsNMe2)]CH3COCH3 are obtained. Analogously [Pd4(PPh3)2Br2(μ-Br)(μ-CSNMe2)]CH3COCH3 was obtained from the reaction of (1) with Na2PdBr4. The crystal and molecular structure of the title compound has been determined as its acetone solvate by three-dimensional single-crystal X-ray data. The complex crystallizes in the triclinic space group P1 in a cell of dimensions a = 16.788(5), b = 12.784(4), c = 10.796(4) Å, α = 98.94(8), β = 101.65(8) and γ = 105.08(7)° with two formula weights corresponding to [(PPh3)2Pd2Cl3(CSNMe2]·Me2CO per unit cell. The structure was solved by standard heavy-atom methods and refined by least-squares to a final discrepancy factor R of 0.052. In the dimer the two Pd atoms (Pd(1)Pd(2) 3.122(1) Å) are held together through a C(S)NMe bridging ligand (Pd(1)C(37) 1.963(8) Å and Pd(2)S 2.294(2) Å) and an asymmetric chloride bridge (Pd(1)Cl(3) 2.453(2) Å and Pd(2)Cl(3) 2.495(2) Å) and possesses essentially square-planar coordination geometries; the two coordination geometries are completed by two chlorine and two phosphorus atoms from the triphenylphosphine ligands (Pd(1)Cl(1) 2.356(3); Pd(2)Cl(2) 2.330(2); Pd(1)Pd(1) 2.266(3); PdP(2) 2.244(2) Å). Spectral data of the products are discussed and a possible scheme for the reactions is proposed." @default.
