- W2029692015 abstract "The continuum shell-model approach has proved to be a convenient way to study the spreading of hole states as seen in (p,2p) or (e,e'p) reactions where a proton is removed from a target nucleus. In this formulation, the spreading is due mainly to the coupling of the single-hole states to the continuum through the 1p-2h doorway states. In the usual treatment of the latter, a number of approximations, in particular the neglect of the continuum particle-particle coupling, have often been made, and the validity of these deserve a careful investigation. It is the subject of this work to estimate the errors coming from the approximations involved. They are found not to be negligible." @default.
