Kuglstatter et al., we were surprised to read that their electrochemically induced FTIR data on the mutant M197FY disagree with our light-induced FTIR data obtained on the same mutant [1] (their reference 18). In our paper [1], a whole section of the text (19 lines on pp. 151 and 152) was devoted to the description of the light-induced FTIR difference spectrum of the M197FY mutant (figure 1d, p. 148) with most of the bands within a few wavenumbers of theirs. A large splitting of the 9-keto carbonyl bands of the oxidized primary donor P+ was observed and the 9-keto carbonyls of PL + and PM + were assigned for the first time. The assignments presented in the above cited FEBS Lett. article are identical to those in our paper [1]. Unfortunately, in our paper [1], figure 1 on p. 148 was accidentally interchanged by the publisher with figure 1 on p. 143 belonging to another paper by E. Nabedryk et al. [2], also published in the proceedings of the same workshop, while the legends were not. These two figures both presented four light-induced FTIR difference spectra from different sets of Rhodobacter sphaeroides mutants. The publisher's error was recognized and corrected by supplying an erratum with the proper figures and legends as well as a correct version of reprints. In addition, a letter explaining the interchange of the figures was sent by us to the participants of the workshop at the same time the proceedings were distributed. After discussing this matter with the authors of the FEBS Lett. article, they have written the corrigendum published on the following page." @default.
