- W2029778189 abstract "Abstract 1. 1. Aldosterone binding macromolecules in the cytosol fraction (104 000 × g supernatant) of rat kidney were demonstrated to exists in vitro in at least two forms. One form, demonstrable in 0.3 M KCL had an apparent molecular weight of 50 000. The other form, present in 0.25 M sucrose, was extremely large with a molecular weight greater than 1.5 · 10 6 . Both forms of aldosterone-macromolecular complexes were demostrated following either in vitro or in vivo exposure to [ 3 H]aldosterone. 2. 2. A comparison of the two forms of binding macromolecules indicated multiple similarities between the two forms. The hierarchy of inhibition of aldosterone binding produced by various steroids was the same for both forms (9 α -fluorocortisol > cortisol = corticosterone > 17 β -estradiol). In addition, K association was found to be virtually identical for both forms of binding macromolecules. 3. 3. The two forms appear to be related in a manner that allowed converstion from on form to the other by the addition or removal of KCl. The presence of 9α-fluorocortisol during either the addition or removal of KCl had no effect on teh quantity of aldosterone bound to macromolecules suggesting that conversion proceeded without dissociation of aldosterone from the binding macromolecules." @default.
