- W2030486802 abstract "The effect of aspect ratio on the heat transfer through curved, rectangular ducts is considered. Of particular interest is the development of improved understanding of the physical characteristics of such flows through parametric studies. A secondary goal is an assessment of the extent to which threedimensional computational methods can be used to impact coolant passage design. Computational issues include the necessity of a compressible formulation with an arbitrary equation of state, along with convergence control for both inviscid and viscous effects, including grid stretching. Results demonstrate that streamwise curvature induces strong vortices, the number of which is dependent upon the duct aspect ratio. Once established, these vortices are shown to persist for long distances even in straight tubes. Heat transfer appears to possess an optimum as the duct aspect ratio is increased from unity to large values." @default.
