- W2030636320 abstract "Abstract The changes in diamond particles and films with deposition variables such as the substrate temperature and the concentrations of methane and oxygen, were investigated using tungsten-filament chemical vapour deposition. The substrate temperature varied from 700 to 1200 °C, and the methane and oxygen concentrations varied up to 3.0% and 1.5% respectively. With an increase in methane concentration, the shape of the diamond particles changed from a cube to a cubo-octahedron. Although the increase in substrate temperature did not produce cubic particles, it enlarged the area of the (100) plane of the diamond particle. With the addition of a little oxygen, the octahedral and the cubic particles formed at 800 and 950 °C respectively and the temperature range in which the shape of the particles changes from octahedral to cubic became smaller. At relatively lower temperatures (100) planes parallel to the substrate surface covered most of the diamond film surface, but an isolated particle, synthesized under the same conditions, shows the large hexagonal (111) planes of the cubo-octahedron." @default.
