- W2030682489 abstract "Precipitates were prepared from sheep anti-dinitrophenol (DNP)-ovalbumin serum or colostrum using increasing amounts of DNP-bovine γ-globulin (BγG). The DNP-BγG was then dissociated and separated from the sheep proteins in the precipitate. Some properties of the sheep proteins were determined and the guinea pig antibody response to these proteins checked by immunoelectrophoresis. For serum, the smallest amount of antigen used precipitated the slow and fast-γ-globulins and the β1-globulin (a component of sheep complement) and guinea pig antisera to this material gave good spur formation on IEP of sheep fast γ-globulin over the slow γ-globulin. With the higher amounts of antigen used, the precipitate contained the slow and fast γ-globulins, IgM, but no β1-globulin and the guinea pig antisera to this material gave negligible spur formation on IEP with the fast γ-globulin. About half of the guinea pigs injected with the serum antigen-dissociated material produced antisera that gave IEP spur formation on sheep slow γ-globulin. In colostrum, the fast γ-globulin appeared to be the main immunoglobulin, and guinea pigs responded to this antigen-dissociated material by producing antisera that gave two or three IEP spurs with serum fast γ-globulin but none with the slow γ-globulin." @default.
