- W2030761003 abstract "ABSTRACT In this study, Coastal Zone Color Scanner data have been used to study the distribution of Chlorophyll-a in NorwegianCoastal Waters. The images have been processed, and an atmospheric correction algorithm has been evaluated within situ measurements of chlorophyll-a. In order to do the evaluation, it was necessary to calculated the total amount of Chlorophyll-a in the water-column. These calculations were partly based on in siiv measurements. It has also been made attempts of recognizing various physical phenomena in the Norwegian Coastal Waters. Documented insiLts upwelling could not be seen, neither could eddy features, associated with the Norwegian Coastal Current. Frontsoff the western coast of Norway and higher pigment signal in the North Sea, due to continental runoff and bottomentrainment, appear in the CZCS images. 1 INTRODUCTION Remotely sensed ocean colour opens a wide variety of applications, both biological and physical.
