- W2030904304 abstract "Electrical stimulation of the exposed medullary pyramidal tract produced flexor movements of the limbs in anesthetized rats when repetitive shocks were applied. At least three shocks were required to produce a movement. The threshold for a minimal twitch was lower for longer pulses than for shorter pulses and higher frequencies of stimulation were more effective than lower. Forelimb movements had lower thresholds than hind-limb movements. Minimal excitatory postsynaptic potentials were produced in one-third of a sample of spinal motoneurons by single pyramidal tract stimuli. These tended to occur earlier and to be larger in flexor motoneurons than in extensor motoneurons. Repetition of the stimulus at 500 per sec caused a steeper growth of the depolarization in flexor than in extensor cells. Minimal EPSP were produced in forelimb motoneurons with smaller stimuli than those required to produce responses in hind-limb motoneurons. Inhibitory postsynaptic potentials were produced in some cells by pyramidal tract stimuli. These required strong stimuli and had a longer latency than EPSP." @default.
