Twenty-seven species, all but one belonging to the tribe Inuleae, were found to form both ectomycorrhizas and vesicular-arbuscular mycorrhizas. Species found to form ectomycorrhizas belong to Angianthus (sensu stricto), Podolepis, Pogonotepis, Waitzea, Helichrysum (pro parte) and Helipterum (pro parte); all are annual or perennial herbs.
