- W2031896952 abstract "The main propose of this study is to investigate the shear strength of saline soils before and after soaking and stabilization of them in order to improve their strength. Direct shear tests and unconfined compressive tests were carried out on non-stabilized and stabilized soil specimens in different conditions. Soil stabilizations were performed by using various dosages of Portland cement and epoxy resin. Comparison was made between the strength of soil samples before and after soaking in order to investigate the influence of water soluble salt on the strength of these soils. Obtained results show that the existence of saline material has significant effect on the strength of soil samples and the shear strength of soil significantly decrease after soaking. The strength of soil samples are significantly increased with adding of cement and resin epoxy but in accordance with the cost of non-traditional stabilizer it seems that the traditional stabilizer like Portland cement still could be a better choice in ordinary situation. Non-traditional stabilizer has short curing time and therefore, it may be recommended for special project." @default.
