- W2031959258 abstract "Abstract 1. The total duration of K+-induced reversed swimming behaviour (tr) in Paramecium shows an inverse linear relationship to temperature. However, Arrhenius plots of the relationship of initial (CCR) and recovery (PaCR) responses show a marked discontinuity at 21 and 20°C respectively. 2. A Ca2+ transport/Ca2+ ATPase inhibitor, Ruthenium Red, inhibits K+-induced CCR whilst prolonging the duration of PaCR. 3. The results support the hypothesis that ciliary reversal is controlled, at least in part, by a temperature-sensitive membrane transport system for Ca2+." @default.
