- W2032662143 abstract "Abstract This paper presents a modeling technique for interconnection networks based on a combination of finite automata and graphs. The finite automata part of the proposed model is used to: (a) provide a mechanism useful in describing the essential characteristics of a wide variety of interconnection networks such as the class of hypercubes—complete and incomplete types—and star-graphs; (b) define the control structure of interconnection networks and investigates their properties; (c) model the dynamic behavior (routing and containment properties) and (d) develop a systematic approach for enhancing interconnection networks—to improve their reliability and performance. Graphs are used to model the structure or topology of networks. The primary advantage of modeling a network as a finite automaton is its application in developing node-independent algorithms for mapping various topologies into the network. These algorithms are rule-based, i.e. they generate a set of control sequences (rather than node labels) which can be used at any node to produce the desire topology. To illustrate the use of the proposed technique in developing new topologies, an interconnection topology called N -prime graph ( N -PG) is introduced and analyzed." @default.
