Amethod is presented which can be annlied to the above nroblem and many other physical Prob- lems. The procedure is to break the Physical Process into a sequence of processes to be per-formed in a cyclic manner, one complete cycle Per time step, with each cycle ending on anhysically acceptable state. Calculations are shown first for a steady radially syrretricplume over a uniform source. Calculations are presented which show agreement with the muchslower conventional approach. The method is then extended by relaxing the assumption ofinstant mixing. Radially varying sources, chemical constituents from the flame and atmos-pheric humidity, are also included.IntroductionIn the theoretical studies of the propagation of laser beams through a turbulent atmos-phere, information about the fluctuations of the atmospheric refractive -index is very essen-tial for the understanding of the physical problems encountered by the laser bears. Turbu-lence- induced fluctuations in temperature lead to fluctuations in the index of refractioncausing problems in the propagation of Electro- Ontical signals.
