BROWN University of Calgary, Canada  Flinders University, Australia  University of Victoria, Canada Примено: 01.02.2012 Прифатено: 29.02.2012 UDK: 159.922.2(100) Recived: 01.02.2012  Accepted: 29.02.2012  Review article Резиме Abstract ВОВЕД: Квалитетот на живеење како прис­тап до интелектуалните и развојните пречки, е значително развиен во последните 30 го­ди­ни, и денес има главно влијание врз ис­тра­жу­ва­њето, остварувањето на услугите и пос­та­ву­вањето на политиката во полето на ин­те­лектуалните и развојните пречки.    ЦЕЛ: Овој труд го претставува и опишува раз­војот на квалитетот на живеење и не­го­ви­те главни концепти и принципи и ги по­вр­зу­ва со истражувањето, практиката и политиката.   ДИСКУСИЈА: Квалитетот на живеење е сфа­тен како чувствителен концепт и концепт што може да донесе кохезија во ис­тра­жу­ва­ње­то и праксата како и концепт што прет­ста­ву­ва рамка за политиката. Квалтитетот на жи­веење, како развоен процес на прис­та­пу­ва­ње, ги спојува претходните идеи како што се нормализирање и спојување на неколку прин­ципи, релевантни за оние коишто ра­бо­тат во оваа област. INTRODUCTION: Quality of life as an approach to intellectual and developmental disabilities has developed considerable over the past 30 years and now is having major impacts on the research, the delivery of services and the setting of policy in the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities.  AIM: This article introduces and describes the development of quality of life, its major concepts and principles and links them to research, practice and policy. DISCUSSION: Quality of life is seen as a sensitizing concept and one that can bring further cohesion to research and practice and provide a framework for policy. Quality of life is, as a developmental process or approach, bringing together previous ideas such as normalization and pulling together a number of principles, which are relevant to those working in this field. ЗАКЛУЧОК: Идеите и обичаите се по­вр­за­ни, и се смета дека се неопходни за целосно раз­би­рање   на    концептите   применети   во ис­тра­жу­вањето како и нивните практични им­пли­кации, доколку целта е политиката да пос­тане двигател на практиката во текот на жи­вотниот век, паралелно вклучувајќи ги ин­тервенцијата и поддршката заедно со об­ра­зувањето на персоналот. CONCLUSIONS: The ideas and the areas described are linked, and it is argued that a full  understanding  of  the  research  concepts and their practical implications are necessary, if the policy is to become the driver of practice over the life span, while including intervention and support along with the education of personnel.
