- W2034000917 abstract "Single-crystal films of PdAg and PdCu alloys were prepared in ultrahigh vacuum by the simultaneous evaporation and condensation of palladium and silver or of palladium and copper onto air-cleaved rock-salt and mica planes. Low energy electron diffraction and Auger electron spectroscopy provided information about the lattice parameter and the composition of the surface region, and the bulk compositions were evaluated from high energy electron diffraction transmission experiments. For the alloys studied the surface compositions were found to agree with the bulk compositions to within the limits of accuracy (about 5%), indicating negligible surface segregation. The evaporation technique applied allows reproducible in situ preparation of homogeneous monocrystalline binary alloys with a high degree of purity that are well suited to subsequent catalytic studies." @default.
