- W2034002458 abstract "It is a well-known fact in radiobiology that dose fractionation of whole-bodyirradiated mammals increases survival compared with a single exposure of the same total dose. In previous papers (1-3), the enhancement of the fractionation effect was demonstrated by applying an alkaline-hydrolyzed product of yeast RNA (Nucleton) and some other compounds to repeatedly irradiated mice. In the present paper the restorative effect of Nucleton is described in detail by analyzing its survival curve and by comparing the effects of closely related compounds given under the same experimental system. Although several papers have reported the effect of chemical treatment on survival after single irradiations in mammals (4-7) as well as in mammalian cells in culture (8-11), the present approach of using repeated exposures seems to be advantageous for comparison of the restorative ability of various chemical agents, since the system is quite reproducible, and small differences in effectiveness, if any, may be enlarged by repeating irradiations and treatments." @default.
