- W2034015923 abstract "The interactions of cortisol and corticosterone with fractions prepared from nuclei and from mitochondria of rat liver cells have been studied. The acid protein and the globulin fractions from nuclei show highest binding expressed as corticosterone bound per mg nitrogen. A very small amount of steroid was associated with the histone fraction. Sonication of mitochondria and subsequent separation of fractions by differential centrifugation shows that disruption of mitochondria does not decrease the uptake of cortisol or corticosterone, and the steroids are associated almost entirely with the particulate fractions; very little of these two steroids is attached to the soluble proteins. Continuous flow electrophoresis of sonicated mitochondria resolves three protein peaks of which only two display combining affinity for corticosterone." @default.
