- W2034038721 abstract "Sodium excretion, urinary concentrating ability and renal hemodynamics were studied in dogs during solute diuresis before and after a standard trauma. Extracellular fluid volume was expanded during the second solute diuresis. The results indicate that trauma itself leads to decreased sodium excretion and to decreased concentrating ability by mechanisms independent of extracellular fluid volume, filtered sodium load, plasma sodium, vasopressin and aldosterone. It is suggested that trauma enhances sodium reabsorption in a proximal portion of the nephron by an undefined mechanism.
