- W2034221661 abstract "1. Retention and distribution studies of tritiated corticosteroids in rats are described. 2. The variation in radiation dose to a given organ following administration of cortisol −1, 2−T, D(+) aldosterone −1, 2−T or corticosterone −1,2−T is small and the corticosteroids may be considered as a group. 3. Liver and kidney received the highest dose, about 1 rem/mCi and 0·4 rem/mCi respectively; the lowest dose was received by testes, foetus and brain, namely, 0·04 rem/mCi, 0·03 rem/mCi and 0·02 rem/mCi. 4. Data obtained on rats were extrapolated to man, corrections being applied for differences between the species, such as weight, turnover rates and metabolic pathway. 5. Considering the accuracy of dose estimations and assuming justification of extrapolation from rat to man, in occupational exposure, tritiated corticosteroids are about 30 times less toxic than tritiated water. For equal injected activities of tritiated corticosteroids to man and rat, doses to individual organs in man will be about 100 times lower than doses to corresponding organs of the rat." @default.
