- W2034356839 abstract "Abstract Rats and rabbits were injected with heterologous proteins doubly labeled with S 35 amino acids and either diazotized anthranilic acid-C 14 or I 131 . The elimination rate of the isotopes from the plasma proteins and their incorporation into the tissue proteins was measured. Our analyses reveal ( a ) that the elimination rate of the injected proteins from the circulation is higher for proteins heavily substituted by the external labels (I 131 or azobenzoate-C 14 ) than for the lightly substituted proteins; ( b ) that a large portion of the S 35 amino acids is reutilized for the formation of tissue proteins, and ( c ) that the amount of I 131 bound to the tissue proteins is negligibly small whereas the fraction of protein-bound C 14 , 9 days after injection, varies from about 8 to 70% of the fraction of protein-bound S 35 amino acids. The protein-bound C 14 is not present in the form of amino acids but as a derivative of anthranilic acid. Reasons for the different metabolic behavior of the two external labels, I 131 and o -azobenzoate-C 14 , are discussed." @default.
