- W2034653318 abstract "This paper investigates the elastic energies of perfect and partial dislocations in crystalline mercury, which elastically is probably the most anisotropic pure metal and which has unusual deformation modes. An algebraic solution is presented for the energies of dislocations lying along the unique threefold axis, but for other dislocations numerical solutions are necessary. The energies are found to be consistent with the experimental slip systems and, by examining the cross-slip processes, particular Burgers vectors for the partial dislocations and a tentative value of about 10 erg cm–2 for the stacking fault energy are suggested. An-isotropic elasticity theory has therefore proved in the present case to be a valuable technique in studying deformation behaviour, and its application to other materials of low symmetry is encouraged. Es werden die elastischen Energien von perfekten und partiellen Versetzungen in kristallinem Quecksilber untersucht, das wahrscheinlich in bezung auf das elastische Verhalten das am stärksten anisotrope reine Metall ist und ungewöhnliche Deformationsmoden besitzt. Es wird eine explizite Lösung für die Energien von Versetzungen parallel zur dreizähligen Achse angegeben. Für andere Typen von Versetzungen werden numerische Lösungen erhalten. Die berechneten Energien sind konsistent mit den experimentell beobachteten Gleitsystemen. Durch Untersuchen der Quergleitprozesse werden besondere Burgers-Vektoren für die partiellen Versetzungen nahegelegt. Die Stapelfehlerenergie wird zu etwa 10 erg cm–2 abgeschätzt. Es zeigt sich, daß die anisotrope Elastizitätstheorie im vorliegenden Fall ein wertvolles Verfahren zum Studium des Deformationsverhaltens darstellt, so daß die Anwendung dieser Theorie auch auf andere Materialien Erfolg verspricht." @default.
