The first method which uses the relationships between independent flows and independent component flows to handle the normalization constraints on variables is effective for processes with no reaction unit. The second method adjusts the independent flows searching method and uses the reaction constraints to deal with the reaction units in chemical processes. Through introducing these constraints with proper confidence factors into the objective functions of data reconciliation, two linear programming formulations are derived. Two examples are presented to demonstrate and verify the techniques. The application results show that the two methods are efficient for data reconciliation of multicomponent processes and are more accurate than the typical projection matrix method.
