La correlación fue estadísticamente significativa, pero escasa para TR-AVD (Rho: 0,23, intervalo de confianza del 95% [IC 95%] de 0,16-0,3), débil para TR-AIVD (Rho: 0,36, IC 95%: 0,29-0,42), MMSE-AVD (Rho: 0,29, IC 95%: 0,21-0,35), MMSE-AIVD (Rho: 0,43,I C 95%: 0,36-0,49) y AVD-DF (Rho: 0,38, IC 95%: 0,31-0,44) y moderada-fuerte para AIVD-DF (Rho: 0,58, IC 95%: 0,53-0,63). The diagnosis of dementia implies a cognitive, behavioral and functional impairment of the patient́s activities. This can be measured by the activities of daily living (ADL) and the instrumental activities of daily living (IADV). They are expected to correlate with dementia grade. The clock test (CT) and the Folsteińs test (MMSE) have such correlation, so we expected to find a correlation between ADL-IADV and the CT-MMSE. To evaluate the correlation between CT and ADL-IADV. To correlate them with the MMSE and final diagnosis (FD). We got 985 evaluations with CT, MMSE and FD. We looked for the scores of ADL and IADL. We applied the Spearman correlation coefficient (Rho) in order to find out their correlation with the CT, the MMSE and the FD. We performed a subgroup analyses (patients with and without dementia). 690 evaluations were included. The correlation was statistically significant, but low for CT-ADL (Rho: 0.23, 95% confidence interval [95% CI] 0.16-0.3), weak for CT-IAVD (Rho: 0.36, 95% CI: 0.29-0.42), MMSE-ADL (Rho: 0.29, 95% CI: 0.21-0.35), MMSE-IADV (Rho 0.43, 95% IC: 0.36-0.49) and ADL-FD (Rho: 0.38, 95% CI: 0.31-0.44) and moderate-strong for IADV-FD (Rho: 0.58, 95% CI: 0.53-0.63). The subgroups correlations did not show relevant differences. The correlation between ADL-IADL and the CT is low. This could be attributed to the low sensitivity of CT for early dementia, but subgroup analyses did not detect significant differences. We only found a relevant correlation between IADL and the FD of dementia. This is easy to explain because of the requirement of functional deterioration for the diagnosis of dementia." @default.
