No significant amount of radioactivity was found in the erythrocytes nor was any significant amount eliminated by the gills, bile or urine. DDT was taken up by all tissues examined. The principal storage sites were liver and muscle, the major lipid depots in elasmobranchs. Studies over a 17-day period indicate that dogfish do not metabolize DDT rapidly; at least 95% of the drug present in the liver was p,p′-DDT. Toxicity studies indicate that the brain of elasmobranchs may be more sensitive to DDT than that of mammals." @default.
