• W2036681799 abstract "Previous specific heat and resistivity measurements have established a preliminary phase diagram for the evolution of magnetic order in heavy-fermion materials ${mathrm{Ce}}_{2}{M}_{x}{mathrm{Ir}}_{1ensuremath{-}x}{mathrm{In}}_{8}$, $M=mathrm{Co}$, $mathrm{Rh}$; a possible quantum critical point (QCP) was postulated for ${mathrm{Ce}}_{2}{mathrm{IrIn}}_{8}$. Zero-field muon spin relaxation studies in ${mathrm{Ce}}_{2}{mathrm{RhIn}}_{8}$ find very rapidly damped oscillations below the N'eel temperature ${T}_{N}=2.8phantom{rule{0.3em}{0ex}}mathrm{K}$, indicating a broad field distribution consistent with the presence of an incommensurate magnetic structure. In ${mathrm{Ce}}_{2}{mathrm{IrIn}}_{8}$, and in samples in which several percent of $mathrm{Ir}$ is substituted by $mathrm{Co}$ or $mathrm{Rh}$, muon spin relaxation spectra reveal the onset of a Lorentzian field distribution, with zero mean, characteristic of disordered spin freezing. The onset temperature for this freezing depends on composition; it is smallest, but still nonzero, in ${mathrm{Ce}}_{2}{mathrm{IrIn}}_{8}$, ruling out a QCP. The evolution of magnetism in the temperature-composition phase diagram indicates that the type of magnetic ordering depends systematically on the degree of $mathrm{Ce}text{ensuremath{-}}M$ hybridization and the local $mathrm{Ce}$ environment." @default.
