- W2036686570 abstract "In the previous study the author has made clear theoretically and experimentally that Ge is an excellent refining reagent because a stable and gaseous GeO is formed over the temperature range available for the usual method of vacuum melting of Fe-Ni alloys. In this paper, the effects of Ge addition on the magnetic properties of isotropic and anisotropic 50Ni permalloys fabricated on a large scale are experimentally investigated for practical uses. The results obtained are summarized as follows:(1) As to the isotropic 50Ni permalloy, the addition of Ge improves the magnetic properties, extends the optimum annealing temperature range for the recovery of magnetic properties and reduces the cooling rate dependence of magnetic properties. Moreover, it increases the electrical resistivity at a rate of about 4.35μΩ-cm/wt% Ge and decreases the Curie temperature at a rate of about 17°C/wt%Ge, respectively.(2) As to the anisotropic 50Ni permalloy, the addition of Ge improves the DC and AC magnetic properties; the reason is that the non-metallic inclusions are removed out through the refining effect of Ge. Moreover, the addition of Ge slightly reduces the squareness of hysteresis loop through the impurity effect, but the impurity effect of Ge is not so large and the squareness ratio of over 0.9 may be easily obtained by a heavy cold reduction of over 98% and a subsequent optimum recrystallization treatment." @default.
