- W2036691526 abstract "Some properties of mouse and rat uterine chromatin, a major intracellular target for estradiol, have been investigated. In vivo administration of estradiol-17β does not significantly change the UV spectra of the chromatins; sonication increases the chromatin solubility and the wavelength ratio 260320. Estradiol increases the content of RNA and non-histone proteins, but decreases that of the histones. The depression, by the hormone, of the apparent template capacity of mouse uterine chromatin for in vitro RNA synthesis, with added E. coli RNA polymerase, is target-organ specific, since intestinal chromatins do not show similar differences. Sonication increases the template capacity of uterine chromatin from hormone-treated and untreated mice by the same factor. All chromatins contain RNAse activities which are inversely related to the measured template capacities the differences of which may, therefore, be mimicked by differential RNAse activities." @default.
