- W2036777789 abstract "IT HAS long been known that strabismic eyes are predominantly hyperopic in type and tend to remain so. However, there are many exceptions to this rule, and no very detailed study of a goodly number of cases is to be found in the literature. The present paper is an attempt to supply some of these data. FINDINGS AND COMMENT The material comprises a year by year study of the average net refraction (hyperopia balanced against myopia) for roughly 1,000 strabismic eyes. 1 These values are compared with values for a control group of some 1,500 eyes without strabismus. This control group, of course, in no sense represents what would be found in an average normal eye, for such eyes are seen by the ophthalmologist for the very reason that some one thinks they are not normal. Our data 2 (see table and chart) show that, in patients who come to" @default.
