- W2036983996 abstract "Elastosis perforans serpiginosa is a rare skin disease characterized by skin lesions varying from skin-colored to erythematous keratotic papules which enlarge outwards in serpiginous or arcuate configurations. The cause of EPS is unknown but it probably represents a condition in which altered elastic fibers are eliminated through the epidermis. A variety of diseases including psuedoxanthoma elasticum, systemic sclerosis, Marfan syndrome, acrogeria, Rothmund-Thompson syndrome have all been associated with EPS. Long-term treatment with D-penicillamine has also been shown to cause elastosis perforans serpiginosa. We describe a 38-year-old man who presented with annular skin lesions on the neck and hyper-pigmented velvety plaques in the axillae. Histopathologic examination confirmed the diagnosis of elastosis perforans serpiginosa and acanthosis nigricans. To our knowledge this is the first case report of EPS associated with acanthosis nigricans." @default.
