Leaving the same plants in swaths for 4 days reduced the moisture content and green seed count substantially at each stage. Drying the high moisture samples (>30%) at 80°C was also effective in reducing the proportions of distinctly green seeds to <3.0% but 20° – 40°C were the best drying temperatures for samples containing less moisture. Based on the standard of 24 ppm chlorophyll maximum in the top canola grade, it was apparent that artificial drying of freshly-harvested seed was only partly successful in improving canola grades. However, swath ing seed at 37.1 % moisture and then drying the swathed seed at 40°C reduced chlorophyll content from 144 to 23 ppm. En récoltant Brassica campestris L. cv. Tobin à des degrés d'hu midité dans les graines allant de 52.0% à 16.0%, le pourcentage de graines distinctement vertes diminua de 64.0% à 2.0%. Lorsque les mêmes plantes furent laisser en andain pendant 4 jours, la teneur en humidité et le nombre de graines vertes diminuèrent considérable ment à chaque palier. Les proportions de graines distinctement vertes furent réduites à % par le séchage artificiel des échantillons très humides (30%) à 80°C; toutefois des températures de séchage entre 20 et 40°C furent préférables pour les échantillons moins humides. En se basant sur la norme d'un maximum de 25 ppm de chlorophylle pour du canola de première catégorie, il est apparent que le séchage artificiel de graines fraîchement récoltées n'a pu améliorer la catégorie que partiellement. Cependant, il a été possible de diminuer la teneur en chlorophylle de 144 à 23 ppm dans les graines ayant subi le séchage en andain à 37.1% d'humidité suivi d'un séchage artificiel à 40°C." @default.
