The clinical diagnosis of hepatic amoebiasis in its different forms, ranging from subchronic hepatitis to acute liver abscess, is difficult in many instances. Only a minority of cases show accompanying signs of amoebic dysentery or chronic intestinal amoebiasis. Living amoebas or cysts are detected in the stools of cases with amoebic liver infection in not more than 45 per cent of the patients (1). The clinical picture, though easily recognizable in a typical case, and under appropriate...References1. Manson's Tropical Diseases. 14th ed. Edited by Ph. H. Manson-Bahr, Cassel & Co.
