The focus is on banks inexperienced in the merger process. Through the use of a GARCH-M event study model our results show that interstate mergers have been positively received by financial markets with respect to stock price reactions. Also, these banks appear to be less profitable after their merger post-IBBEA. Lastly, the financial markets seem to have difficulty accurately predicting subsequent performance successes/failures of such mergers." @default.
