- W2039599608 abstract "Abstract It is not surprising that Marxists find “artificial negativity” a bitter pill to swallow. It deals with Marxism in exactly the same way that Marxism has dealt with every other competing doctrine—with one important difference. In dialectically relativizing previous forms of thought as historically specific expressions of various forms of being, it carefully avoids the totalitarian cancer nesting within the Marxist dialectic by substituting it with a version of the Hegelian dialectic grounded in Husserlian phenomenology. And this is what DeBrizzi suspects is the “lingering” Marxist baggage in the analysis of artificial negativity. But Hegel and Husserl can hardly be considered Marxists, even though a phenomenologically grounded dialectic tends to come across bearing some resemblance to its Marxist counterpart." @default.
