- W2039732409 abstract "The experimental apparatus developed at the Istituto di Metrologia ‘G. Colonnetti’ for the simultaneous measurement, at temperatures above 800 K, of several thermophysical properties by the pulse technique, is described. Heat capacity, electrical resistivity, hemispherical total and normal spectral emittance, melting point, heat of fusion, properties of solid—solid phase transformations, etc, may be determined in an experiment of sub-second duration. Modern analogue to digital conversion techniques, with millisecond time resolution, are used to collect the experimental quantities (current, voltage, black-body temperature and radiance temperature). Accurate temperature measurements are permitted by the development of high-speed pyrometers working in the near infra-red with silicon photodetectors. The experiment execution, data collection and data reduction are performed by a minicomputer on line. Various aspects and advantages of the experimental technique, especially at very high temperatures, are discussed, with emphasis on the precision and accuracy of this new method. A short review of the experimental results obtained with the apparatus is presented." @default.
