The quotation refers apparently to an oral promulgation rather than a publication, since no reference to it could be found in the papers of Dr. Munger cited before 1941 in theQuarterly Cumulative Index Medicus, a source which most workers accept as indicating publication in the clinical fields of medicine. The first paper proving any relationship between hormones and cancer of the prostate gland was published by Huggins and Hodges (Cancer Research1:293 [April] 1941), who showed that cancer of the prostate is activated by androgen injections and is inhibited by eliminating androgens through castration or neutralization of their activity by" @default.
