Only 33% of those who knew a modern method could name a course of supply. The most commonly known method was the use of charms. 74% of husbands knew of a modern method. Only 11% knew a womans fertile period. 69% of nonusers had no intention of future contraceptive use. 14% of those intending future use would use charms. 71% of wives and 58% of husbands approved of family planning. Infant mortality between 1988-92 was 123/1000 live births; child mortality was 318/1000 in all areas and 347/1000 in rural areas. Almost 33% of children aged under 5 years were undernourished.
