While permanent diplophonia is a somewhat rare phenomenon, transient bitonality is frequently noticed in patients either with lesional or functional hoarseness. Diplophonia was observed in 72 patients, and various acoustical, visual and glottographical techniques of investigation were performed. Acoustically, diplophonia is due to the addition of a second subharmonic series to the normal F0 harmonic structure. Mechanically, diplophonia is always associated with abnormal oscillatory movements of the vocal folds involving a double or multiple phased closing or opening movement of the glottis, or a beating phenomenon of the two folds oscillating at different frequencies. As a general rule, diplophonia is associated with excessive air escape through the glottis, which is a cause of hoarseness. Diplophonia is not a specific characteristic of a particular aetiology of dysphonia. Die vorliegende Arbeit berichtet über die Untersuchung von 72 Diplophonie-Fällen mit Hilfe verschiedener akustischer, stroboskopischer und glottographischer Techniken. Akustisch erweist sich Diplophonie als das Hinzutreten einer zusätzlichen Reihe Subharmonischer zur normalen Struktur aus F0 und den Harmonischen. Mechanisch bedeutet Diplophonie stets anomale Schwingungsmuster, das entsteht, wenn beide Stimmlippen mit unterschiedlicher Frequenz schwingen. In der Regel geht die Diplophonie einher mit exzessiver Luftabgabe durch die Glottis, was Heiserkeit bewirkt. Diplophonie ist jedoch nicht Kennzeichen einer eigenen Ätiologie der Dysphonie. Du point de vue acoustique, la bitonalité est caractérisée par l'adjonction, à la structure F0 + harmoniques, d'une série sous-harmonique supplémentaire. Mécaniquement, la diplophonie est toujours associée à des mouvements oscillatoires glottiques anormaux: il s'agit soit d'une ouverture ou d'une fermeture des cordes en deux ou plusieurs phases, soit d'un battement résultant du fait que les fréquences vibratoires des deux cordes ne sont pas égales. La diplophonie est habituellement associée à un flux aérien transglottique trop important, lequel confère une composante de souffle additionnel au timbre." @default.
