Measurements on stainless steel showed trivial deposition outside the pH range 5 to 8. Within this range deposition rose sharply to a peak at pH = 6.2. This is similar to the findings of Kuo and Matijevic (1980) who studied haematite particle deposition onto a packed bed of stainless steel beads under laminar flow conditions. This shows that particle/surface interactions govern deposition in this system and that hydrodynamic and geometric factors are secondary. Nous avons étudié le dépôt de particules d'hématite (-Fe2, O3,) en suspension dans un écoulement d'eau en régime turbulent (nombre de Reynolds =11 000) sur la surface de tubes métalliques, en analysant spécifiquement I'effet du pH. Les mesures effectuées sur l'acier inoxydable montrent un degré de dépôt infime pour des pH inférieurs à 5 ou supérieurs à 8. Entre ces deux valeurs, le degré de déposition augmente rapidement pour atteindre un maximum à pH 6,2. Ces résultats concordent avec les travaux de Kuo et Matijevic (1980) sur le dépôt de particules d'hématite dans un lit garni de billes d'acier inoxydable pour un écoulement laminaire. L'interaction particules-surface a une influence directe sur le dépôt dans ce systéme et les facteurs géométriques et hydrodynamiques apparaissent secondaires." @default.
