- W2040980132 abstract "Abstract Introduction: The past decade has seen oil and gas exploration and development move into a new phase as hydrocarbon reserves are increasingly found in remote locations, with a large number in the deepwater environment. This change has produced the need to develop sub-sea based technologies that are flexible, durable and simple in the face of high capital and operating costs. Sub-sea developments produce greater flow assurance and intervention challenges. Solutions are needed to address the low seawater temperature conditions that lead to problems within trunklines, such as hydrate formation / plugging, wax precipitation and sand accumulation. The long distances that are involved in remote location developments limit the effectiveness of existing technologies to minimise the problems. The Solution: Curtin University of Technology has taken the initiative to develop a national flow technology and research centre within the Woodside Research Facility (WRF). This facility is the first high-pressure, medium flow capacity multi-phase flow, sub-sea processing and flow assurance facility in the Australasian, South-East Asian and Pacific region. Measurements and calibrations made through the flow loops will be traceable to national and international standards, ensuring the facility meets applicable current and projected future legal flow metrology requirements. Capability: The facility is being constructed through a phased approach and will on completion consist of four primary units, which are:–Sub-sea gas dehydration and de-sanding,–Low temperature gas processing unit,–Sub-sea flow loop for deep water pipeline and wellhead operating conditions, and–Above ground flow loop with tilting capability." @default.
