Abstract Under the premises of the one-particle approach the authors have integrated the equations of motion of protons and electrons in the electromagnetic vacuum field of a rotating orthogonal magnetic dipole under the restriction of a pure wave field approximation. Parameters have been chosen in such a way that this configuration can be considered as a model for pulsar magnetospheres as cosmic-ray particle accelerators. Special attention is given to the phenomenon of the acceleration boundary describing the utmost spatial extension of the accelerating region.
