Clinical diagnosis, although it may be important in some situations, is not considered specific enough for accurate assessment of the parasites to which a herd may be exposed and is therefore not discussed. Techniques for the diagnosis of the animal trypanosomiases can be divided into parasitological and immunological methods. Those in the process of development in the laboratory and in routine use in the field are assessed in relation to their specificity, the rapidity of the diagnostic method, their reliability and applicability under field conditions. The ideal of a rapid specific parasitological technique may be difficult to attain and local conditions (size of herd; information required by authorities) will determine whatever alternative technique is to be used and which of the criteria (e.g. rapidity, or specificity of diagnosis) should be sacrificed to obtain the required information if time, resources and personnel are limited. Les differentes methodes de diagnostic biologique des trypanosomes pathogenes du betail en Afrique ont été discutées dans cet article. Le diagnostic clinique n'a pas été envisagé, car, bien qu'il puisse être réalisé dans certains cas, il n'est pas assez specique. Pour donnor une idée exacte du taux d'infestation d'un troupeau. Die klinische Diagnose, obgleich in einigen Fällen von grosser Wichtigkeit, ist kritisch betrachtet nicht spezifisch genug für eine genaue Einschätzung der Parasiten, der eine Herde ausgesetzt ist und wird deshalb nicht diskutiert. Die Techniken der Diagnose der tierpathogenen Trypanosomiasis können in parasitologische und immunologische Methoden unterteilt werden. Jene im Labor sich in der Entwicklung befindlichen und jene, die als Routinemethoden im Feld Verwendung finden, werden in Hinblick auf ihre Spezifität, Schnelligkeit, Zurverlässigkeit und auf ihre Verwendbarkeit unter Feldbedingungen verglichen. Das Ideal einer Schnellen, spezifischen, parasitologischen Technik ist schwierig zu erreichen. Lokale Bedingungen (Grösse der Herde; von Behörden erforderliche Information) müssen entscheiden weche mögliche Technik zu verwenden ist und welche der Kriterien (Z.b. Schnelligkeit order Spezifität der Diagnose) geopfert werden sollte uw die erforderliche Information zu erhalten, wenn zeit, Geldmittel und Personal begrenzt sind." @default.
