So surgeons have easily recognized he value in aviation systems, such as crew resource mangement (CRM). CRM promotes efficient communicaion in an airplane cockpit and is primarily a commercial viation tool. CRM techniques are being adapted by urgeons to improve communication in the operating oom. This article describes the preand postmission riefing used by fighter pilots. Fighter military missions nvolve multiple aircraft and situations different from ommercial airline operations, so the fighter brief and ebrief expands valuable CRM, principles to address ilitary fighter operations. Military aviation uses a form f CRM that might be more applicable to the operating oom than is commercial aviation CRM, because it adresses the unpredictability of combat and is the cornertone of continuous performance improvement. Physiians in all specialties resemble airline pilots, but urgeons are the fighter pilots of medicine and can benfit from military CRM, especially the fighter mission rief and debrief. This article describes fighter mission RM and then makes recommendations for adapting he fighter pilot briefing technique in the operating oom (OR). Fighter pilot CRM builds on principles lready being used by surgeons, but the two most imortant additions are the teamwork methods used to anage four supersonic fighter jets in a highly dynamic nvironment and the educational methods used to chieve continuous practice-based learning and imrovement in fighter aircrew. Military mission briefing and debriefing are the cenral learning experiences for fighter pilots. As such, the" @default.
