The effect of the parallel component of the field is to enlarge the core radius of the vortex. The authors apply similar physical arguments to the surface sheath in an inclined field, and derive an expression for the angular dependence of the critical field which is in good agreement with the experimental results of Burger et al (1965). Tunnelling measurements on N/S junction are described. These show good agreement with the theory for expanded vortices in both thin films and the surface sheath." @default.
