- W2043207687 abstract "Recently there has been a general tendency on the part of teacher training institutions to extend their curricula from that of the tradi tional two-year course to three years, and four years. In the case of many institutions the extension has gone to four years with the power to grant a degree upon its completion. The reasons for such, extensions are many and varied. In some cases it was the contention that two years were too brief a time to give the necessary preparation for varied types of teachers. In other cases it was announced that new subjects should be added better to prepare prospective teachers on various levels. This latter reason was, and is, especially assigned in the case of those schools with newly organized curricula purporting to prepare, specifically kindergarten-primary teachers. The writer has been sufficiently inter ested in this general tendency, to the extent, that he has made a study of it in so far as it refers to the introduction of three-year curricula for the preparation of kindergarten-primary teachers. A report of the findings of this study comprises the remainder of this discussion." @default.
