- W2043281134 abstract "The shapes of the energy distribution of secondary electrons can be predicted for fast incident charged particles by using dipole oscillator strengths in conjunction with the Born formula. Target atoms or molecules may have one or more ionization potentials close to the first one and the corresponding partial photoionization cross sections are sometimes large. Allowance must then be made for the differences in kinetic energies of photoelectrons which leave alternative ionic states. This produces a significant change in the expected secondary electron spectrum at low energies. The photoionization data for NO are analyzed and the predicted shape of the secondary electron energy distribution agrees well with that of the experimental distribution at those secondary electron energies where a comparison is possible. Predicted low energy results from a preliminary analysis for N2 are also reported." @default.
