- W2044295952 abstract "We simultaneously measured the increase of residual resistivity Δρ of the ferromagnetic metals Fe, Co, Ni and of Al during irradiation with reactor neutrons at 4.6 K. We found an anomalous negative curvature of the damage production rate Δρ as a function of Δρ for Fe and Ni, but not for Co and Al. We propose the following interpretation: stability of the three-dimensional defect configurations created during low temperature reactor neutron irradiations of Fe and Ni, instability of these defect configurations when there is a sufficient overlap of individual displacement cascades. Most probable is a collapse of the defects (e.g. into loops) which leads to a decrease of the average resistivity per defect. Computer calculations allow very good fits to the experimental curves, yielding reasonable parameters for the effective overlapping volumes and resistivity changes." @default.
