The degree of this remodeling can be determined by analysis of biochemical markers of bone turnover. In the last few years, great efforts have been made to establish the relationship between rates of bone remodeling, determined by levels of markers, and bone loss and the possibility of fracture, as well as to establish the role of these markers as faithful indicators of the benefits of antiresorptive therapy. As will be seen, although several studies demonstrate the capacity of these markers to predict bone loss and the possibility of fracture, currently they are more frequently used to monitor therapy and establish patients' compliance with treatment" @default.
