Die charakteristischen spektroskopischen Daten dieser Absorptionsbanden sowie die 1:1-Ionenpaarbildungskonstanten wurden bestimmt. Die Absorptionsmaxima der breiten SSCT-Banden verschieben sich mit positiver werdendem low-spin Reduktionspotential des CoIII-Komplexes bathochrom. Der aus der Absorptionsintensität berechnete Delokalisierungsgrad, der ein Maß für die elektronischen Wechselwirkungen zwischen den beiden Ionen darstellt, erhöht sich mit steigendem Komplexradius. Dieses Verhalten entspricht nicht den Aussagen bisher verwendeter Modelle, kann aber durch MO-theoretische Betrachtungen qualitativ erklärt werden. Im Falle starker elektronischer Wechselwirkungen trifft das Cannon-Modell zur Berechnung der Energie des Bandenmaximums nicht mehr zu. Intensity of Second-Sphere Charge-Transfer Absorption Bands of Ion Pairs from Cationic Cobalt(III) Complexes and Iodide Ions Electronic interactions between cobalt(III) amine and α-diimine complexes, respectively, and iodide ions result in the occurrance of additional second-sphere bands. The characteristic spectroscopic data of those absorption bands as well as the ion-pair formation constants have been determined. The absorption maxima of the broad SSCT-bands are bathochromically shifted upon positivation of the low-spin reduction potential of the cobalt(III) complexes. The delocalization coefficient, which is a measure of the degree of electronic interactions between the ions, increases with increasing complex radii. This behaviour is contradictory to the expectations from the hitherto applied models and may be explained by molecular orbital descriptions. Cannon's model allowing for the estimation of the energy of SSCT bands does not apply to systems showing large delocalization." @default.
